Services - Business Checklist

Business Checklist "This is a list of items to bring in if you are an independent contractor, self-employed, small business owner. This is not an all inclusive list, and a set of business books would be the best option to provide.

Income from business Including any 1099's received
Interest income from business bank accounts
Advertising expense - includes marketing, promotional, yellow pages, sponsorships etc
Employee Benefits - Health Insurance, dental insurance, retirement plans, etc. DO NOT INCLUDE OWNER
Insurance - Work Comp, general liability, errors and omissions - NOT LIFE
Interest - on loans, to credit cards used just for business, on lines of credit
Legal and professional services - accounting, computer specialist, lawyer, business consultant
Office expenses - office supplies, checks
Rent/lease expenses - separate equipment/vehicles from other
Repairs and maintenance - on equipment, buildings, tools
Taxes/licenses/permits - payroll taxes, business license, alarm permit, property taxes
Travel - related to business for the owner and/or employees - transportation, lodging, taxis etc
Meals and entertainment expense - carefully log!
Utilities - water, trash, sewer, alarm, power
Wages - gross payroll paid to employees with W2's filed
Telephone - cellular (% biz use!), long distance, main office line NOT HOME PHONE even if biz is in home
Postage
Bank Fees
Internet Access - % biz use
Cost of Goods Sold

Total Purchases

Beginning Inventory

Ending Inventory

Outside services - temporary services, subcontractors
Continuing Education -license requirements, business skills, NOT COST TO QUALIFY
Other (varies by business!): If you spent money in the ordinary and/or necessary function of your business, let us know what it was! Examples include memberships/dues, specific costs related to your line of work
